Art is not always conceived as being for eternity. Colours fade, materials disintegrate, important information on the work is lost. Every collection has works that raise questions and tell exciting stories. And the context in wich the art is shown always plays a role. Are sketches and documentations of actions artworks ? What about ephemera in the form of invitation cards that are only intended to be used once ? So, when and where is an artwork an artwork ?

In our collection presentation we show works whose status or mode of presentation is unclear, wich have changed, or which tell stories about their origins. Melted wedges of fat, performances in the from of a document, works in individual parts that cannot be put together again and empty boxes are all just as much components of the exhibition as a sprouting table. The status reports from the collection are diverse and highlight the becoming and decaying of art that can occasionally also led to an insurance case.
